To effectively popularize first aid knowledge among new students and improve their awareness and ability to assist in emergencies, the Student Affairs Office, with the strong support of the Logistics Management Office and the School of Physical Education, invited volunteers from the Jiangning District Red Cross and first aid rescuers from the Nanjing Xiaozhuang University Emergency First Aid Base under the Nanjing Red Cross to conduct first aid training for all new students of the class of 2024.

The volunteer instructors used a theory + practice approach, conducting four hours of specialized training for over 300 new students representatives. They provided an overview of the Red Cross spirit, the golden four minutes of first aid, and explained essential first aid techniques such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), and emergency management of airway obstructions. During the practical session, the instructors used human body teaching models to guide the students one-on-one, ensuring that every participant mastered the key movements and performed the procedures accurately. After on-site learning and practice, all participating new students representatives obtained CPR+AED first aid training certification.

At the university’s emergency first aid base, rescuers demonstrated first aid knowledge and skills to new students on the North and South athletic fields. From chest compressions to artificial respiration, and the proper use of an AED, the rescuers explained and demonstrated each procedure in vivid and detailed ways, making it easy for students to understand. The new students deeply appreciated the serious responsibility and honorable mission of first aid work, and the learning atmosphere on-site was highly enthusiastic.

As part of the 2024 new students orientation program, this activity ensured full coverage of first aid training for all new students and their classes, thereby contributing to the creation of a safer campus. At the same time, it enabled new students to grasp crucial first aid knowledge and skills, encouraging them to actively participate in rescue efforts and embody the new ethos of everyone dares to help, everyone can help represented by our students.
